AZANIA VISITS NUNGE VILLAGE FOR HEALTH OUTREACH PROGRAMME

On 16th August 2014, Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Azania visited the house of elders located at Kigamboni area for medical screening, reproductive health short seminar to youths, dental health talk followed by provision of toothpastes and toothbrushes to the elders and lastly we had dinner with the whole community of Nunge village.
A total of 1,380,000 was contributed and  1,036,200 used to accomplish the activity.
A total of 62 patients were provided with medical consultation and screened for diabetes, malaria and hypertension. 48 of them being elders from the house and 14 residents from a neighbouring village. 
While getting ready for check up, a dentist had a talk with the elders about the best way to take care of their teeth. Toothpastes and toothbrushes were given to each elder.
23 youth were also given a short lecture about a healthy reproductive life. How to protect themselves from sexual transmitted diseases and how to do family planning.
We later had lunch with Nunge house residents (more than 120) and their care takers. 
A total of 8 Lions and 3 prospective members physically attended and the activities took 40 hours.
We were also accompanied by doctors from PENIEL organisation.
