Message from the Chairperson: Lions Mobilizing Support for Ebola Victims

Dear Lions,

In recent months, we have all watched as an outbreak of Ebola has gripped West Africa. The outbreak has taken more than 5,000 lives, and it is estimated that more than 4,000 children have been orphaned. A lack of health education and growing food shortages in these countries are proving to be a disastrous combination. Lions, I am appealing to you to join me in offering support.

We Lions have a long-standing history of helping those who need us around the world. Today at the Europa Forum, I announced that Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) will provide a US$150,000 grant for Ebola Aid.  Several countries, including Japan and Sweden,  have already committed their support.

With 167 clubs and more than 8,000 Lions in affected countries, Lions and LCIF are pledging their support for those most in need. Please consider making a donation to LCIF’s Ebola Aid campaign and bring hope to Ebola victims, their families and those affected by the outbreak.

I want to thank you for your support and your commitment to meeting humanitarian needs whenever and wherever they arise.

Sincerely,

Barry J. Palmer
Chairperson, Lions Clubs International Foundation
