PEACE POSTER CONTEST BY HOST CLUB

Host Club carried out Peace Poster Contest at Little Angels Primary School on 12th November 2014. The contest was officiated by RC Lion Shiraz Rashid and District Chairperson Lion Sara Qadri. There were 25 participants from the school of which the winner was Master Abhey Kishore, 2nd winner was Master Chintal Jetha and the 3rd winner was Ms Maureen Mwasongwe. Club Convenor Lion Nureen thanked the school management and students to have given Lions the opportunity to carry  out the contest in their school. 

National launch of Trachoma Initiative in Jinja.

Delegates of Lions of Uganda led by the District Governor Lion Night Ndyarugahi joined the National launching of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Trust's Trachoma Initiative that was held at Kagoma Primary school, Buwenge Rural Sub-County, Jinja District.

It was officiated by the Minister of Health Hon. Elioda Tumwesigye.The Trust was led by Dr.Astrid Bonfield who during her speech mentioned on the role of  LCIF and Lions Clubs International in partnering with the Trust to finance the program. The DG was given a front seat among the signatories.

RLLI SUCCESSFULLY HELD IN KAMPALA FROM 14TH TO 16TH NOVEMBER 2014

Capacity Building is always helpful and assists in developing the competences of leaders and members today and tomorrow. Multiple District 411 ran a Regional Lions Leadership Institute in Kampala, Uganda sharing with Lions Club Members skills for better management of  Lions Clubs and their activities.

The Institute hosted for the first time in Uganda attracted 60  Lion members. 

The Regional Lions Leadership Institute took place in Kampala beginning  14-16 November, 2014.  The closing ceremony was conducted by the Multiple Council Chairperson of District 411.

The Institute was facilitated by able members of the faculty who used their experience and expertise to help improve the knowledge and capacities of the participants. Experiences, challenges and aspirations of clubs  were shared in group work discussions and  role plays. 

The Multiple Council Chairperson encouraged the participants to share the knowledge acquired with other Lion members. The MCC called for  team work innovation and creativity in the leadership of Lions Clubs. He urged for prosperity in Lionism and the general good lives of all Lion members.

Lions Club of Kumi Central was fortunate to have 3 participants attending the Institute. 

Kumi Central is thankful for the opportunity and will no doubt utilize the knowledge acquired to foster sustainable leadership in the club.

LEO CLUB OF WIGGINS SECONDARY SCHOOL CLEAN UP THEIR SCHOOL

During the Month of October( 27th - 31st) the Leo Club of Wiggins Secondary School that is sponsored by Lions Club of Kumi Central conducted  a touching offer of service to their school by organizing a school clean up exercise.

The Leo's cleaned up their school compound, teachers residential quarters,their latrines and offered gifts to their teachers.

The students made liquid soap with guidance of their chemistry department and used the soap for cleaning up the Pit latrines at the school.The same soap will now be used for hand washing by other students and the school community as away of promoting good sanitation and hygiene.

A banner was produced by the fine Art Students depicting the theme of the week. It is always joyous to live in a clean environment. Thank you Leo's for taking the lead for as in the banner good health begins with an individual and the Leo's have done it.You have begun it; keep the fire burning.

KIBO CLUB JOIN HANDS WITH STARKEY FOUNDATION TO CARRY OUT CAMP TO ASSIST THE DEAF

On the 8th and 9th of November a 'hearing camp' took place in Moshi, whereby members of Starkey Hearing Foundation provided hearing aids to 600 patients. Members of Lions Club of Moshi Kibo assisted during this activity by providing tables, electrical equipment  and most importantly 750 lunch boxes and 80 cases of water during both days to every patient and others who came along. 16 lion hours of work done by 15 Lions and TZS 2,100,000/- was donated in total.

PEACE POSTER CONTEST AT AL MADRASSA TUS SAIFIYA TUL BUHANIYAH BY PWANI CLUB

On 07th November, 2014, the club sponsored its 2nd Peace Poster Contest at Al Madrassa tus Saifiya tul Burhaniyah. The theme of the 2014-15 Peace Poster Contest is "Peace, Love and Understanding."

A total of 7 students participated in the Contest. The theme of the contest was brought out well in the posters. The club was supported by the Art Teacher Sheikh Yousuf. The students explained their posters and their views on Peace, Love and Understanding. The club members were happy to see the Artistic minds of the girls at school.

The activity was graced by the District Chairperson Lion Sara Qadri and Convenor Lion Natu Bhardwaj.
