In July this year, Lions Club of Kumi Central was requested
by the District Police Leadership of Kumi District to help out in the
repair of the Police Station which was dilapidated and in a sorry state. This
was part of the police force strategy of working with the community and the
easier way to go though it was to work with Lions Club.
There was no hesitation by Kumi Central who took up the
challenge and in working with the Kumi Town Community, Non Government
Organisations and the business people Nine teen Million shillings (19M)
was fund raised for the activity.
The District Governor during her visit to the Club in
August, 2014 visited the station. The project has been completed and on 12th
December , 2014 the renovated works was handed back to the Police leadership.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police In Uganda Godfrey Baingana graced the
occasion. He praised the Loins Club for the spirit of support and working with
civic organisations to make good facilities that provide service to the
communities. The Central Police Station serves a population of over 250.000
people in Kumi District.
