WORLD SIGHT DAY AT MNAZI MMOJA GROUNDS PROVIDE RELIEF TO OVER 700 PEOPLE SAY PWANI CLUB

To celebrate World Sight Day, on 10th October 2014, Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Pwani joined hands with the Ministry of health and Social Welfare, Welfare Association of Pakistan, Stanbic Bank, Municipalities of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Ophthalmology Society and other stake holders  in focusing on bringing attention on blindness and vision impairment at Mnazi Mmoja Grounds.

The theme was "Universal Eye Health" and the call to action was "No more Blindness due to Diabetes Mellitus".

A total of 500 people were screened for sight and 150 people were screened for Diabetes. The club provided spectacles to 224 people and medicines to numerous patients. Cases of 36 Cataracts and 3 Glaucoma were referred to the national Hospital to be carried out free of cost.

During the occasion, the Chief Guest Hon. Richard  Mushi, Ilala District Commissioner appreciated the efforts by stakeholders in the drive to eliminate preventable blindness.
