MRI CAMPAIGN IN TANZANIA - IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO NOTE


Stake Holders Meeting
Will be held at Mwalimu Nyerere Convention Centre on 05.08.14. Chief Guest- Mama Salma Kikwete. 
Attendance of Lion Members will be by invitation.


Lions Orientation/Seminar 
Orientation will be on 10.08.14, tentatively at New Africa Hotel. Venue and charges to be confirmed soonest. Attendance of Lion Members will be by invitation.


MRI Campaign
The dates for the campaign were confirmed from 1st to 6th September 2014. All clubs are requested to note and confirm active participation. Lions Seminar will provide adequate information on the campaign.


National Launch 
Launch will be carried out in Dodoma at National level. Lions will be requested  by 10 Core team members. The date has been confirmed to be 24th September 2014. Chief Guest- President Jakaya Kikwete.

HIDAYA ORPHANAGE RECEIVES HEART WARMING ASSISTANCE FROM AMANI CLUB

Amani Club carried out an activity at Hidaya Orphanage Centre, Maji Matitu, Mbagala Rangi Tatu on 27th July 2014.

Rations including Rice, Sembe, Sugar, Maharagwe,Cooking Oil,Tambi, Powder Milk, Biscuits,Washing Soap, Khanga, Children Dress for Girls and Boys, Shoes for Children,Tea pot, Saucer and Cash were handed over to the Head Teacher of the Centre.

Total of 95 Orphans and 22 widows benefited by this donations.

President Lion Dr. Hussein tanked all Club Members and well-wishers to have heartily donated towards this Activity.

Total amount spent on this Activity was TShs 1,335,000.00
12 Club Members and one Guest attended this Activity.

LIONS OF KUMI CENTRAL CLUB MOBILISING SCHOOL CHILDREN TO BECOME LEOS

In July, Lions Club of Kumi Central visited Ngora High School to orient the school children as they prepared them to become Leos. "The Club is expecting to form 3 LEO Clubs all of which will be chartered during the visit of the District Governor," said president John Okure.
President also mentioned that Ngora School will henceforth be carrying out Quest programmes.

HOST CLUB PRESIDENT LION MATTHEW SAYS IN GIVING WE FIND A UNIQUE SATISFACTION


Lions Club of DSM Host carried out food distribution activity at Tahfidhil Quran al Hidaya Orphanage Centre in Dar es Salaam on 13th July. President Lion Matthew presented the food rations, soap and juice to the 95 children living at the centre. In his address to the orphans, Lion Matthew a teacher by profession said, "I find peace when I teach the young children in school, but today I have found satisfaction by giving".  




ORPHANS ENJOY FUTARI WITH AZANIA LIONS


Azania Lions provided iftar to the orphans of Neema Maumba Orphanage in Buguruni, Dar es Salaam on 5th July. The futari activity was attended by 8 club members. President Lion Dr. Msemo beamed with pride saying that this was the first club activity under his leadership and promised more community services in the near future.

AMANI CLUB PROVIDES LUNCH AT OCEAN ROAD HOSPITAL

The Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Amani on Sunday 20th July 2014 carried out their first activity in this Lionistic year 2014-2015.

The club provided cooked food (Rice and curry of having peas, beans, carrot and maize) for 300 patients at Ocean Road Cancer Research Institute. The Club also provided TShs 55,000.00 worth medicines to some patients.

The activity also benefited Street Children who normally walk the area.They were given food packs.

The activity was worth TShs 400, 000.00.

Along with 13 club members there were 2 guests Nancy Stelzer and Karen Reardon from USA.

PWANI CLUB COMMENCES LY2014/15 BY WORKING TOWARDS ITS POVERTY ALLEVIATION PROGRAM


The Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Pwani donated 4 sewing machines about 22kms from city centre in Kitunda, Mwanagati - rural area of Dar es Salaam. The site survey was done by Lion Rizwan and Mr. Yusuf Mkeyenge – A resident of Kitunda area. The Heads and religious leaders of the Nur Mosque Mr. Nasir Suleman, Mr. Twaha Kisogo, Mr. Rajab Saidi, Mr. Abdallah Ramdhan and Mr. Khalifa Juma thanked Lions for the noble cause.

The 4 widowers were chosen by the Religious leaders in the Kitunda area for receiving the Sewing Machines.

The total cost of the activity was TZS 700,000.00. The 4 widowers and religious leaders thanked Lions for recognizing their area. 

President Lion Collin appreciated the good work done by the club and mentioned to the elders that the program run by club members was an on-going vision. "We would like to make widowers independent... .......teach them how to fish is a million times better then to give them fish," he concluded.

Greetings from Seattle USA where I am currently. I wish to congratulate you upon completing the Lionistic year 2013-14 and starting the new year 2014- 15 with enthusiasm to strengthen the Pride in our clubs through Service with Care to our communities. 
Remind yourselves when you became Lions, how you feel after the Lions activity and think of asking one to join your Club. 
It is 16 days and soon you will see the 1st quarter elapsing so time is not on our side let us ASK ONE.
I have high hopes in you all to achieve the District Status by the end of this Lionistic year. I wish you a successful year of Service with Care.

PEACE POSTER CONTEST 2014/2015 - Annual Art Contest for Kids

Since 1988, 1.8 million children from around the world have expressed their feelings about World Peace through the Peace Poster Competition.
2014-2015 is the 27th year of the Peace Poster Competition and the theme for the year is, 'Love, Peace and Understanding'
The Timetable for Success is to make a start in your Club

Each year, Lions clubs around the world proudly sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. This art contest for kids encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace. For more than 25 years, millions of children from nearly 100 countries have participated in the contest."Students, ages 11, 12 or 13 on November 15, are eligible to participate.

Peace Poster Contest Kits for the year 2014-2015 are on sale from the Club Supplies Sales Department at international headquarters from January 15, 2014. Headquarters must receive requests for kits directly before October 1, 2014. Each Peace Poster Contest Kit costs US$11.95 plus shipping, handling and applicable taxes. The Club may place their orders directly to Ms. Nicolette Donofrio, Assistant to Manager, Club Supplies Sales Department at our international headquarters (nicolette.donofrio@lionsclubs.org).


The Club Supplies Sales Department is willing to accept orders from districts in bulk. However, payment for the same must be made in advance. Shipping, handling and applicable taxes will be billed to the district directly by our international headquarters.
If kits are ordered by individual clubs, they will be supplied to the club directly by our international headquarters, and the club will be billed for the same.
Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.
Requests received after the deadline October 1, 2014 will not be accepted.

DISTRICT GOVERNOR LION NIGHT ASSUMES 411B TOP LEADERSHIP

Lion Night Ndyarugahi assumed top leadership position as she was officially installed on 8th July at the 97th International Convention held in Toronto. 

Please join the entire district membership to congratulate Lion Night for the appointment and to wish her a successful tenure as the First Lady  District Governor.

When we started the year in July 2013 , the year looked so long , However  after the engagement on various services of caring for the needy & completion of administrative duties in pursuance to our goals, the clock never stop ticking

The good news is, we have completed our journey successful by  30th June 2014

As we conclude our lionistic year , i write to sincerely thank you all for the tremendous support & commitment towards elevating our District to the next level

Our achievements were by & large attributed by the unity that was displayed throughout the tenure of my office, of which am extremely grateful to all of you, for the unwavering commitment to our community as well as our Association.

I will always cherish the good time & camaraderie that we had shared together

Once again thank you so very much 

I look forward to continue in service as i retire to join the club of eminent  PDGs.
